Improved communication is at the top of our agenda, and we hope this site is a good first step. In addition to important content like our collective bargaining agreement and member resources and benefits, we developed several elements we are very excited about. We hope you find them useful, engaging, and entertaining! New features include a Message from the President, an ongoing column where I will share LIUFF activities and priorities and discuss cutting-edge labor issues. Grievance Chair, Melissa Antinori is writing a blog entitled Know Your Contract that will keep you informed about our contractual rights. She would welcome questions and suggestions for topics. The website now showcases our talented LIU-Brooklyn artists and writers in a feature entitled LIUFF Arts and Leisure. We are rightly proud of our gifted faculty and we hope you enjoy seeing their work. There is a calendar where all upcoming LIUFF events are posted, so check it out to see what is going on. We update it frequently.
LIUFF advocates on behalf of our membership. To be effective, we need to build community. For this reason, I have decided to make the LIUFF office, M602, into a faculty lounge where we can relax together. The lounge is open once each week for two hours and hosted by members of the Executive Committee. We have a refrigerator, microwave, drinks, and snacks on hand, and we warmly welcome you to visit. We all know how important it is to take a breather from our hectic pace, so make sure you take some downtime for yourself. One good way to do that is to visit LIUFF. The schedule for lounge hours is posted on our calendar.
Please take a moment to browse our website. We will continue to improve our site and we welcome your feedback and ideas.
LIUFF is committed to our University, to our campus community, and to our students. I know that if we work together, we will accomplish tremendous things.
