Dear LIU Brooklyn Students: The LIU faculty is NOT ON STRIKE. We were locked out by the administration before we had the opportunity to vote on their contract offer. We are continuing to negotiate in good faith. We are appalled at the administration’s disrespect not only for us but for you, the students. They claim they are acting on behalf of your interests in an effort to divide us. In an effort to balance the budget, they are cutting back on faculty salaries the same way they are cutting back on your scholarships and stipends. None of the replacement teachers they have imposed on you are prepared and many are not qualified to teach your classes.
