The LIUFF Executive Committee organized a meeting for the general membership on May 2, 2016 to discuss whether to affirm the right of the committee to call for a strike vote in the event that a fair contract cannot be bargained by the end of the current contract year. Faculty expressed continuing concerns and frustrations about issues related to salary parity, full and part-time faculty benefits, and the need for the university to bargain in good faith with the LIUFF negotiating team. The following motion was made from the floor:

Motion: To grant authority to the LIUFF Executive Committee to call for a strike vote if they deem it necessary.

The motion passed unanimously.
